Board member search (ends 1 March 2026)
Our founding secretaris-penningmeester is stepping down. We’re seeking two board members to replace him.
Secretaris (secretary)
This is a volunteer position, estimated to take 5-10 hours per month including (remote) meetings. Preference given to Dutch/EU citizens, but all are welcome to apply.
Stichting Otterdam makes “furry” art and culture more accessible. “Furries” are fans of anthropomorphic art — that is, art with characters that blend traits of humans and other animals. Furries are best known for costuming, but also express themselves through drawing, animation, music, writing, dance, and other arts.
We support them by producing (or co-producing) innovative events such as the public-facing, all-ages Otterdam Furry Arts Festival and the world’s first Furry Studies Conference. We actively look for opportunities to collaborate with other institutions, uniquely bringing furry arts and culture to the public while creating broader opportunities for the artists.
What will you help us do next?
We’re in good shape: We have community support and money in the bank, and our infrastructure is solid. We’re seeking board members who’ll be actively engaged in helping us implement our plans.
As our new secretary, you’ll bring structure to our activities and meetings, and will help us communicate to potential partners, donors, and community members. Among other things, you’ll be responsible for:
- overseeing the organisation’s records and intellectual property;
- relationship management with outside organizations;
- strategizing and planning for future activities;
- ensuring compliance with legal requirements related to the above.
Requirements include:
- Familiarity with the operations of Dutch stichtingen. Strong preference given to those with managerial experience.
- A high level of Dutch and English language.
- Willingness to allow a background check.
- Understanding of, experience with, and enthusiasm for grassroots arts communities.
As a board member you would become a fiduciary to Stichting Otterdam. Look through our new website before applying.
To apply, click this button to send an email. Include:
- Your name, email, phone number, and country of residence;
- A link to your resume (or similar list of experience) online, or a PDF of your resume;
- Answers to:
- What experience do you have with arts nonprofits?
- Why does this position interest you?
- Anything else you’d like to ask or tell us.
The application period closes 1 March 2026. Either English or Dutch is fine. Thank you!
